Now for the tough part
After everyone has left
Dropping the last friend
At the airport

There arrives an ill hollow feeling
That settles in your stomach
The one resembling nausea
With a side of melancholy

There is no amount of preparation
To make this any easier
Your attention was focused
Upon anticipation

Why consider the conclusion?
But it always arrives
Always too quickly
Always the same, with sadness

The only cure I know of
Is to start anticipating
The next gathering
Which you look forward to
Through tear filled eyes
