every man your mother brought
home, you called “ daddy ”
you never really knew your mother
you attended six different schools
before the seventh grade
and spent your teenage years
in an orphanage

who are you, norma

we walk along the boardwalk
and santa monica
is just a seaside
town

tell me about the classes
you take at u.c.l.a.
even though you didnt finish
high school

you were meant to be
more than a factory
worker

what’s that, norma?
you say you want to
be an actress because
you can imagine yourself
as anything !

you can become anything.

we look at the beach
as we walk down the
boardwalk

the stories the ocean holds
the breeze makes you feel
delicious

i want to watch your brown
blowing in the
wind
as you ride the
carousel

we walk the boardwalk
as the ocean sits
calm

we’ll go to the movies later

every saturday, you go to the
movies
movies are as powerful
as dreams

sing to me, as we’re walking on
the beach

make me feel, its my birthday...
