i will never give anyone
power over me
i belong to me before
anyone else

my magic, my power, my strength,
and my beauty are my own;

i don’t owe anyone any thing—

don’t think you’ll have
unlimited access to me
i have dreams to accomplish,
and monsters to conquer;

i don’t always have time to
be the hero
and to some i will always be the villain—

that’s okay,
villain’s tend to have the best lines;
and i refuse to be a weak woman
simply to be praised—

i am strong, i am fierce,
an omen and a warning to men
who think women are weak.
