Highway Lunacy

Copyright 2020 John F McMullen

When I worked In Lower Manhattan
but lived in Riverdale (part of the Bronx),
by the Henry Hudson Parkway,
I was in a car-pool for 14 years.

The trip could take anywhere from an hour to two,
one way, depending on traffic.
It could, therefore, even with great company,
be very boring.

So, the core three, Norman, Mike, and myself.
sometimes fueled by alcohol on the way home,
often engaged in some lunacy
to break the monotony.

One morning, with Norm driving
and me riding shotgun,
I noticed that the man in the next car
was picking his nose.

Having no compassion,
I told Norm to honk the horn
and, when the man looked over,
I grabbed my own nose and twisted it.

This obviously enraged the man as
he turned and spit at us!
Alas, he soon became more enraged;
he had forgotten to roll down his window.
