Grab that apple off the tree, don’t
ask permission for knowledge,
it is not anyone’s to give,
not even His. And certainly not

his. It is always the woman,
Eve with the apple, Pandora
with her box. Never the man

that first forbid all of us
from the knowing. Not the man who took the apple
from her hand and bit (we had to feed them even then).
A story to blame women, the bearers of life, for
everything

wrong in this world. Though it seems to me
that knowledge can account for
everything
that is right.
