Time loops.
Space probes.
Are these withdrawal symptoms into the unknown?

Bedeviled with plights,
I wade into each with wide-open eyes,
chew on morsels of grief,
on bereavements that never cease,
and devoid of devotion for planet earth
with its daily Armageddons,
I stare at the futility of peace
in the bottom on my coffee-mug,
whose dregs I could never read
and wonder what romances gypsies weave
from sediments and leaves
for my grandmother, an adept at tasseography
once spotted three coffins inside her cup
and within a week
lost three daughters to smallpox.

Like most people I daydream
of a few ounces of happiness,
now a rare commodity,
but keep my wildness under check,
for despite an urge for a quantum leap,
I remain a realist.
