It Was

The perfect island is shrinking under my feet,
at least it’s perfect to me.
Yeah, this island fit me like a glove,
I see all my hotspots down there-
now it’s shrinking too fast,
all the life down there looks increasingly miniature.
I feel like Goliath instead of David now.
I guess I lived like David
but I will die like goliath.
It’s scary to look up,
haven’t done it much in this life.
My head was always down,
busy and down.
But the horizon looks peaceful,
I can’t say appealing, but peaceful.
This island will sink into the ocean
and I suppose I will follow suit.
All the breathing is done up here
but maybe not.
Once my lungs are filled with water
my soul will begin a new journey,
at least, that’s what I am hoping for.
Who cares, right?
I will be dead.
If I am wrong about the soul thing
I will never know.
Was life worth it?
I can’t imagine a dumber question-
It was.
