With horrors from the news
And daily life
Weighing on my mind
And heart,
An ordinary occurrence
In this day and age,
I wonder and wonder
Why do we bother
Planning to fix all this damage
When it would be so much easier
To just watch it burn?
But humans will continue efforts
To patch all the broken things in this world
I know they will never succeed
For they forget about
One minuscule fact
Which would have made a repair
To this world possible
No matter how many plans are created,
New laws enforced,
Or kind people exist,
We will all still be
Nothing more than flawed humans
Capable of the worst atrocities
Imagining we could just fix it
Is like forgetting that
Even a domesticated lion
Still has a taste for flesh
We will always be this
So go ahead and try
But when it comes to fixing things-
Well,
I guess we’ll burn that bridge
When we get to it
