And the note scrawled hastily and tucked underneath my windshield wipers
The tap tap tap on the window
And the rustle of the blankets in the dark
The messages in my inbox
Was I the pig in your slaughterhouse?
You were a masterpiece of catastrophe
Clawing your fingernails down the walls
Sucking the breath from my chest
All the panic in the tight corners where I thought I saw a camera flash
But at least you were beautiful
We forgive handsome men everything
They are so charming
With a butcher knife
And a raincoat
And a Huey Lewis song so you know it’s playful
Doomed to love you
While you wrap your fingers around my throat
You howl at the moon
What a sexual sound
Some men wear blood so well
Watching you watching me
Knowing there have been so many others like me but not me
Your smile is the only thing about you that is bloodless
I will never be your possession
But one day I will possess you
