Bio
Consuelo Marie Barbetta began exploring abstract concepts as a student at Long Island High School for the Arts. She then proceeded to receive her BFA from California Institute of the Arts under the direction of Stephen Koplowitz. Along with appearances in indie, reggaeton, and rock videos, Consuelo is passionate about her participation in various site specific projects. Consuelo’s work is heavily influenced by her obscure interests and eclectic training in multiple dance forms. These include but are not limited to her extensive background in modern dance, while simultaneously incorporating acrobatic elements, with a combination of world dance styles.
In Los Angeles, Consuelo’s choreography debuted at the REDCAT Theater. Before returning to New York, produced and directed 'Remixing the Beatnik,' an intimate dance showing with music and poetry. After moving back to the east coast, Consuelo established MODERN LIMBIC, a contemporary dance company. Her work with MODERN LIMBIC has been presented in and around New York City, at venues such as the historical Judson Church, as well as in various social and cultural events in Puerto Rico. Consuelo’s film credits include collaborations with Andrew Alderete, Sandra Powers, and Masque Films. She is a passionate writer, and personal trainer.
