I want to want one senseless thing –
so soak my eyes in turpentine
Drown these pores in paraffin
Numb my tongue   Negate all scent
and turn my ears into backward clocks

Still   our moon can shed its skin
swim in the blood of its undoing
& make this night a parasite
that feeds on streetshadows   tired eyelids
& constellations of bedside lamps

Not addicted to being noticed
the moon is gone   then it unwraps
the dustless surface of its glass
wanting nothing but to want
the light that eclipsed its antique mask
