fall cleaning

jck hnry

nightmares keep me restless.
i find myself
cleaning out closets
in the middle of the night.

pockets of old jackets
hold relics, past glory.
glassine bags

filled with stimulation,
buzzsaw vacations
with a burning radiator
vibe.

forgetful in the moment,
i gaze at my tithings.
morning comes creeping.
another lover begs
forgiveness for crimes
committed
against nature and me.

i put discarded echoes

into familiar black

trash bags.
i tear cobwebs

from corners and
slump against the wall.

when i come out of the closet
i may find my solace,
i may find a moment
to remember dreams left behind.

but that moment remains distant,
trains call on in sorrow,
i cut lines of desperation
to forget who i am.
