After the Rage

Death doesn’t terrify, but it is sad,
because survivors are forced to change
like slow turtle crossing wide road

to a new habitat out of range
as drivers pause; this isn’t toad?
Maybe we reflect on memories of Dad

and childhood in several abodes:
when you’re young, you never know what you have.
When you’re older, loss of love seems strange,

because you’ve been focused on what to add;
but, possessions are heavy load
like poor wooly canine with the mange.

When people vanish like trunk nodes,
one is forced to view tree in each stage
which leaves mind thinking, and this isn’t bad!

There are tears then growth after the rage
and transformation after feeling mad.
Solo victims might write an ode!
