I’m disassociated, fragmented
lost pieces of incomplete puzzle,
because Mother’s not in her home.

Anxiety bloats this mind, so full
of anger that nothing’s in bloom;
yes, she’s immobile but not demented.

She’s not a dog, mouth full of foam.
Empathy’s absence should be lamented;
lamentable is old age muzzle.

83! Is that why she’s tormented:
queen without her demesne or dome?
She should sit on a throne to nuzzle.

From group home to group home, she roams
with her existence nothing but pull—
to the point our dear Mother’s tormented.

Can’t she return to abode to mull
remaining time on this earth less haunted?
Hasn’t her hour of power come?
