Kissing Turtledoves

She was first mentor when I was in womb;
ate apple a day ‘til I was born.
She and Dad were my first true loves.

Now, at 82, she’s fragile and worn;
we’re still as close as turtle doves.
After five years, she left desert of gloom

to visit me and my third love;
yet, it’s as though she’s shielded in my womb.
After two weeks, she flies alone; I mourn.

Without her & little bell, house is tomb.
My chef partner has silenced stove.
Even the two Tabbies look forlorn.

Her presence was springtime in grove;
her walker, wheelchair graced, adorned.
I feel empty, weepy, burdened like doom.

To me, she seemed stronger and reborn;
she even tried the spa inside bath-room.
I handle fighters with kid gloves.

She was first mentor when I was in womb;
ate apple a day ‘til I was born.
And, we’re still kissing turtle doves.
