Anxious, depressed, I’m dangling on tight rope.
I can’t fall, because there is no net.
Besides, our Mother is dying.

Dysfunctional family is a fret
since for years we’ve all been vying
for dear Mother’s love like small antelopes.

I’m crying despite deep breathing.
Reason says ancient Mother’s beyond hope.
However, I’ll not let go or submit

to being the one who knots fatal rope.
Let task go to those still lying
in more ways than one like a poker bet.

I know I’ll again be flying
to the cold and barren March desert;
I’ve mailed pink crinkly blouse for Mom, not taupe.

I’m glad I was born to her and met
unconditional love, faith to cope.
I’ll recall laughter and weeping.
