Like the rest of us, the old wear a mask
in front of strangers, at a party;
They hide physical/mental pain

to fit in like branch of an oak tree
when body/mind feel like dark rain.
Everything seems empty like a Poe casque

stamped, Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
After all, are there still questions to ask
when the ancient just exist in Be?

All that has happened is done in /and past
like a caboose at end of train.
One can hardly stand, walk, hear or see.

Everyone’s dying, loved ones gone;
center has collapsed in family.
There’s nothing to do but survive, a task!

Even memories fade, moments of glee;
change is forever like sand sifts through flask.
Those once agile now shake, use cane.

Like the rest of us, the old wear a mask
in front of strangers, at a party;
they hide physical/mental pain.
