What is it that I fear about her death?
Long good-bye with pain; my loneliness;
now and future without Mother?

Both full of life but going west,
friends and shadows bend mirror.
Over doubt, anxiety, we hang wreathe:

ribbons & bows around day burrs.
We reveal laughter, humor, never sweat
like Amazons with shared lioness.

We love to take chances, to risk and bet,
because night despair is bother.
Boldly, we tell secrets and confess.

Power of Attorney is an-other
who made charge’s last months tragic mess.
Now, crossing is tedious over to Lethe.

Each distant phone call is strange duress
until frequent visits Mom may forget.
She’s like soul-mate, only other.

What is it that I fear about her death?
Long good-bye with pain; my loneliness?
Or now/future without Mother!
