Reality is the Ruse

Am I dying with mother, two of us,
both holding on for the long good-bye,
same as when we delivered birth?

Entrance or exit is mystery
blurred by profuse tears and strange mirth
as we come crying into world with great fuss.

Why not same for leaving this earth
whether we choose to balk or ride the bus?
Life & death answer the quest of Why!

When we learn reality is the ruse,
then we can believe love in heart,
assured that our dreams were never lies.

When we recognize joy brings hurt,
we are no longer children bound, tied.
We know there’s no one and nothing to lose.

From birth we start to slowly die,
realizing parents, family are muse;
for first mentors gave us our worth.

Am I dying with mother, two of us,
both holding on for the long good-bye,
same as when we delivered birth?
