Until you care for aged, infirm parents,
you’ll not know how much they cared for you
from infancy through college years.

You’ll not realize how much they’re due
for sacrifices beyond tears.
Reverence isn’t trite when you’ve paid the rent

and bent strangers’ ears with your fears
since there’s no money for clothes or car dent.
You’ll think back to days of sky so blue

when you were a treasure in U. S. Mint.
Old Mother is even dearer
after Father’s passing, eight year coup.

Everything’s not what it appears.
In retrospect, we hold different view;
now, aware children are stupid to vent.

We signed aboard family ship as crew.
No doubt, to the captains, we should repent.
We learned to travel far, see near.

Until you care for aged, infirm parents,
you’ll not know how much they cared for you
