To Return the Love

Hopefully, we learn these are the best days
of last years shared with one/both parents—
privileged to return all their love

given to us when we had no sense
as children or teens, moaning doves.
We can care for mentor(s) barely repays

their sacrifices, pushing shove
to fulfill countless needs a million ways
so we’ll remember the past and home

with enlightened memories after no gaze.
We’ll recall how Mother was glove;
Father, a tent, in tangled forest!

These times are what dreams are made of;
for, your first teachers are heaven-sent.
Thus, we shouldn’t be too late to hail praise.

Soon, they will follow path over fence;
and, there’ll be nothing more that one can say
like water boiled over on stove.

Hopefully, we learn these are the best days
of last years shared with one/both parents—
privileged to return all their love.
