Minds ponder purpose of this existence
while bodies continue to work, serve:
dreams, parents, family and ideals.

Along crooked road, diverse paths swerve
while you hang on to boughs, values,
even when old branches crack to en-trance.

On Earth, we unlayer and peel
illusions like sticky sap until hence,
learning soon or late the pits in curve.

We’re here to love before climb over fence:
agape more than cope by seal
except any connection takes nerve.

But, walking wounded rarely feel
contentment of youth (whirling dervish)
enjoys elephants under circus tent.

Do those who retain child-like fervor
endure and survive beyond the non-sense,
because they swim with lightning eels?

Nonetheless, minds ponder this existence
while bodies continue to work, serve—
maybe as simple as toe, heel.
