I forget, sometimes, that I am not
a butterfly, that this silver paint
is not a kiss or a dew.
I know the air below me is hollow,
only helpful for an instant.
Still I try to fly, faltering
again and again. Maybe
this time the ground will stay
stained with my shame
as my pain spreads like wind
around me as I die
