Seeing a Psychiatrist - poems from Janet Kuypers
i have learned

even sunshine burns
if you get too much

i have learned
the subtle difference
in holding a hand
and chaining a soul
i have learned
that company
doesn’t mean
security
and i have learned
to accept my defects
and downfalls
with grace and pride
in myself
i have learned
that i must
plany my own seeds
and decorate
my own garden
for i cannot wait
for the time
when someone
brings me flowersi have learned
that although
i must
always keep
my eyes open
i can keep
my head up high
with every goodbye
i learn
