Part of my Pain

I’ve been trying so hard
to be the most perfect

but I’m putting myself
through hell for it

consider it war paint
that leaves me scarred

your insides are smeared
around my eyes almost daily

so yeah, you’ve also been
a part of my pain

#

this pain has now taught me
to believe in inflicting pain

as much as I apparently
believe in receiving it

I like taking a small sharp
blade to you at times too

since you have to be ready
to hurt me more later

#

so although I’m acutely aware
of the pain I go through

don’t you think for a second
that I can’t give out

what I already take
