Chapter 48 (v2)

ever leave me

Janet Kuypers
6/24/15

if death ever consumed you
if your soul were ever to leave

if there was something out there
insidious enough, evil enough

to snuff you from this earth
and force us to go on without you

well, what would I do

as you departed, I would hold you
until your heart stopped beating

and then I would hold you tighter
until your brain no longer functioned

because I would want
your thinking mind to know

that I would hold you fiercely
and never let you go
