i always
shied away from
human affection
because
i always thought of you
taking more than i was willing to give,
and trying to force me
into sex;
so i recoiled when anyone touched me
even my dad
he was always offended
instead of trying to get to the root of the problem
always insisted fathers should be able
to touch their daughter’s
arm
i can still feel my mouth tighten—
people should always
respect other people’s boundaries
because of you
i don’t like being touched
even by those closest to me and i hate
when people force me into
hugs
i just want my space,
and i only hug people when i feel
comfortable with them;
not because
they forced me to.
