i always feared
seeing your face again
that was probably irrational,
but then again
when i thought i wouldn’t see you
again
you appeared in my life;
a ghost that i would have preferred to remain
in his haunted house rather than
my life—
wish i could let it go,
but this has followed me around
since i was a kid;
every day i have to worry about someone
like you
stronger than me
forcing me into something i don’t want
everywhere i go
walking down the sidewalks
get hollered at, catcalled, and hit on
even happens at work
sometimes;
i just want a space where i can feel safe
other than my house—
that’s not too much to ask
so why is it
that nowhere but home
makes me feel safe?
