i must’ve cut my finger today
(at work?) -
but unlike sylvia
and her wondrous wound -
i didn’t notice it.
there was no blood.
only after
that 11 hr. shift
and the drive home,
(shirt and tie on the floor),
and a microwave dinner -
in the quiet space of
a shower stall,
alone and naked -

it stung.
i felt it.

i see it now.

it still stings.
