Alone, I Climbed Down from the Battle

Mark Fleury

Alone, I climbed down from the battle
Between worldly knowledge

And devotion to an external God,
Which puts Satan out there too.

Even though that war’s relieved
Through the heart, it’s an apocalyptic
Phallic tree.

And when my highest thoughts
Are a worm-floored building,

I wade through compassion
For the blood of the Beast, speech.

And I take flight with the dawn, down,
Over the wheeled deathbed
Of who’s relieved through sex,
Instead of becoming more
Than just your porcelain mask.

I enjoyed the mirrors,
And also yelling from a heaven window
To get the attention of your

Solitude: orbed cosmos.

Only the sunset is treeless.
But in between day and night,
Their bark is dark.

And Muse, Goddess, opened
Spirit / door for me,

The place of her Name, whether seeing
Mother Earth, or hearing

The whirling Wheels of Light.
