Mark Fleury

“I’m a stone of light, held, embraced
In the sun, as I listen to you
Who witnesses from where the angel
Has opened the floodgate, pouring golden
Love into your empty-shelled shadow.”

At least that’s how my light dawned
Today’s soldier of light’s flight
From a loved devil becoming nothing

To a cup filled up with vibration
From within. Drink my poem’s exhale
Because the shadestone’s been softened,
Liquefied by warmth of touch. I’ll forgive

My senses for mistaking a heartbeat
For what nourishes it.

All afternoon I’ve listened
To the eyes of an angel.
