An Honest Living Had by All

Mark Fleury

An honest living had by all
Involved this backache
I couldn’t shake,
From the ho(a)rse
In the stall of my snake
It scared, to her eyes,
Wild with sacred wholeness.

To be trapped where my spine
Flips. Lakes emptied
Of reflection are each eye,
And how these came to be
Are for the circles the orbs fill.
Perhaps not up to the flashes
Of hands in prayer, this loss of emptiness
For lightning - crooked across expanse of sky -
Might be my north to south
After east and west reach them.
Perhaps a personality of Christ
Is called for.

Looking up into the bottom
Of my dream for the jagged edges
Of mountain peaks,
I could see the lips
Of Mary, speaking for Jesus.
He with her mind.
