I Walked

Mark Fleury

I walked right into
The edge of your body,
Lamp-lit, and hiding from
Projections I had to consume.
Silhouetted against shade.
Book. Library. Window. Orbed,

Thought-train tunnel
Listening is my voice
That’s a throat, opening

For a dying vision, and
Sacrificed while learning
To hear.

And what Demon saw
Never left now,

As the train is a ghost.
Light moving toward

Light, to appear when
The end is met. And after

I eat: It’s what I see
By listening to your body
That I’ve climbed inside
As though Demon’s Form
And Angel’s Content. Absorbed.

And I see in from out.
I won’t give you my anger.
My hunger.
