Starts In Thinking

Mark Fleury

Starts in thinking
There’s a salvation in Christ
That’s separate from us.
Passive hope in highest
High maybe at time of
Bodily death makes me
Anxious. Heart flooded.

Oh Muse, what I’ve
Needlessly put you through!
Ready to use my chest
As a morgue, for me to get to you.
Concentration of flesh
Into a speck of your cosmic dust.
Pure feeling. No one to die there
Save vision, pervading my
Portal, water whose flash of sight
Reads signs on the way up.

A pillar in an emptied
Library, “Send more books!”

Angels to fill the empty
Ghost Ship.

The librarian wears
The portal: pure sunlight,
Where windows have drowned.

Ship speaks: “I’m named
Wave and that’s public,

But I’m from water -
That’s my privacy.”
