There’s Sediment

Mark Fleury

There’s sediment
In the dust on the computer
Screen’s dryness,
Reflecting
A flash of diamonded
Loneliness, the user looking

From what can’t be reduced
To microchips’ green bones:

A bed of leaves on a pool
Of flight from the forest
Floor. From one end of the name
Of whom I can’t be
To another is graved
In the distance between us.

Forever virgins for each other.

Mask, left to dry
In the sun, leaves of hair,
Too becoming shafts
Of brittleness: window frames.

That’s why my head is the tip
Of a sword,

Grabbed, at the
Bottom, by where spine’s root

Is hid in spirit + breath =
Speech. I’m devoted.
And I have no access to
Your knowledge of me.
The line that’s pulling your
Grip home through the fog.
I mean, your intellect, that’s form,

And mine, that’s space, together
Place. The top of your head.
