What Color Is

“What color is your headache’s
Grave? I know I don’t have a
License to ask, but I’d also like
To know about life underground.
How guidance counselors regard
Preparation for eternity, and what college has to do
With poetry. A dollar for every chakra.
Doing battle with Glass Onion,
Wanting furthest out to be in,
Again for falling masks, singing
Without a country’s skin in between

My teeth. Vampired.”

Friends from the next world
Were already in the audience,
As evidenced by Mohawks, dyed
The colors of dawn. They clapped

During the ‘grave’ bit, whistled
At the Beatles reference,

And after the show feigned weeping
In the lobby and blowing minds out.

Where exactly were they from,
And why was my response a ball
Bouncing across these words?
