Smoke rings

From the belly
Of devotion’s volcano

Are cut apart
By the hell-copter’s

Blades, as mechanized
Thoughts cut up the idea,
Like a sentient poem,
That flight from the earth
Can leave it,

Can slice the trunk
Of its tree apart
From one being all.

Yet awareness of division
Of reality proves its wholeness: domed

Rings of sound rising
From the ancient depths
Of a community, living,
From a light at the bottom
Of the ocean.

Atlantis, yes, but also,
Now that I’ve dived in,
Via a moon’s balcony,

An earth, orb full

Of exhale, at least in the middle,
That keeps moving outward
Until its demonic sprawl is laid to waste
In its own core. Uninvention.

I’ve never felt that I was real,
Just the thought of me. That’s why

The line can’t be mine anymore.
Two to one: light to sound:
Syllable to sentence.
