The Flesh-Colored Door

Mark Fleury

The flesh-colored door,
Where the barely green leaves’

Stems break from branches,

One in a row of content-windows,

Contains the shadow,
Like a window shade,
Of where the two meet.

An acidic lack, Spirit, breath
To speech, is a heavened

Burn of oxygen through soil.
A lake of glare,

My head ins content

That graves the lid for that black dirt.
From the top,

A beam of the door ray
Falls into a spark’s inward reach

Outside, down the atom-slide.
The String Theory that’s like that of a child:
Only this heart glides
To eternal space.
