The Same Way My Cat

The same way my cat
Looks toward my fingertip
Instead of what
I’m pointing at,

The only duality
Is that I become
Your projection. From on high.

One thought, drop,
Held suspended: Love, you are my body.

Nothing is how the light, feeling,
Gets into that sound; the parting
Of the tender seed. And the winged,

Leaves are rooted in
A ray of light that can’t be named,
Otherwise the sadness of noon rain
That sends the children indoors
Gives the playground an emptiness
That hurts the mind.
