Devil, creation-agent
Of God, protects the open
Psyche against those who want
To take God’s power to destroy.

I have no hand in the eastern
Incineration of the bubbling rocks

That the earth’s revolving around.

My love for Word as ground
Means that the imagery projected
Beyond itself, in this case

This planet, is, when ego-sprawled
And claimed, a sin. A mistake
Beyond the already heartbreaking
Creation of being the real
Echo of an imagined Word.

It’s easy to adjust cloned
Cores to the same outer apple
Shape repeated, of one’s content seeds

Lamps on an office desk. Skin
Florescent light on the ceiling.

When the bulbs are spent, all of
The darkness looks the same in

The broth of cactus soup.
My island is my brain,
Desert saturated with

Tree root sap. The longer I look
At the ocean that’s leaking

From my pen, the more hollow
The core of my gun’s inner

Sunlight. I’ve no claim to

The drained snow, blue down
The grates when melted. The face

Of the moon is in the eyes
Of fish when they fall off of
Tide cliffs, into

The nets of the shore’s mouth.

Bellied empty once one’s
Bones are an angel keyhole
Through which I can see from
Heaven’s hallway, the only content
And therefore never an outside;
Spring in Eden is the opening
That clears the way for the pull

Of the tide’s glide.
