For The Sake of a Greater Good

Mark Fleury

For the sake of a greater good,
The poem is its own strength of sky,
Found in the wind-milled

Eyes of the countryside’s high,

Red walled, hay lofted barn, greeting
The sun. The naked Light sleeps amidst the
Golden shafts of the dawn sun’s hair.

The sky glares into the black windows
Of skyscrapers, where the money

For loft dust’s agreement

With thick opaque glass to not block
Each other’s views of Light

Is kept in a safe.

The shadows of the black windows’
Hallways hid the numbers
Of the combination lock.

Now they’re revealed by the same moonlight
In a lantern

That shows their different ledges

To be the skinned souls of stars,
Sun bathing in the rain.

A universe is enclosed in a bank safe.

Each drop of sky

Can be blamed for its water and light
On the tears owned by and located inside
The Light’s phallic building;

Nested golden bomb.

If mind and heart isn’t defeated
By devotion, compassion’s envious of God.
