Regardless of Your Ability

Mark Fleury

Regardless of your ability
To shed lightning’s panoramic view
Of its own moist white flash,

The door shore
Snake slithers from
Is an end of birth that’s

As soft as a womb. Hiss
And tail were also

Used to paint flames
On the diamonds of the Serpent’s wings

That keep trying to eat
Angel as if they are a mouth.

Forgiveness puts outside
Evil inside oneself. Serpent is space

And Angel is time.
How can one be everywhere?
Thank the evil of separation.
Eventually desire wins out.
Is the very opening I’m born from.

Everything in one line doesn’t mind
Being consumed by the open wings

Of nothing. It’s finally just a question
Of emphasis. They both fit
On a pen’s tip.

Nausea is a possible side effect
Of large and small being the same,

Followed by quick
Blinks between dawn and dusk.

Where exhaustion opens.
