While Imprisoned

While imprisoned
In this poem the Angel
As line must obey its opening,
That protects the threshold to God.

And until Angel-spine
Is ready to take flight,
When permitted, finally,
To die, and finally able
To take refuge in religion,

The Angel Muse is protected
From the crazy Christians
For whom “Thou shalt not kill”

And “Love your enemies”
Are so complicated
That they keep on
Having wars anyway.
