Letters Getting Younger
Mark Fleury
Letters getting younger.
Where every racial other
Shares the same sentence.
Kneeling, after the ritual
Has lit roars of anger
With sparks from a cemetery
King, edible ghosts repeat their
Eagerness in the glow of
Forgotten Lights. East is an
Understatement, a reversal of your
Joy’s anger, an operation in
The art of naked nest eating.
Or else a creature at rest, like owning
Flowers is the land’s
Usefulness to roots,
An earned yellow
Of a lily’s inward-
Reaching stamen. The same fire
Lives in the earth, under the rise
Of yesterday’s dead evening, until the night
Is not in the sun, but instead the
Light in every star.
