An energy field in flames,
I keep circling the building
But can’t find a way back in.
The red in the blood on my black
Firefighter’s helmet glistens in
The only open window, in the
Shadows on the walls that
Surround a crib.
The bird flies back in
When a helmet is removed.
Silver from the engines
Of police cars, ambulances
And helicopters, in the Ghost’s
Smile, is what caught the attention
Of the winged body. The baby
Is safe. Her innocence,
Eternal, will always be kept
Inside of her. The protection is
Contained in our shared heart.
