Ocean Avenue Still Life

They are coming at an incredible rate
of speed down Ocean Avenue, running the
caution light by the Nazerene church, cranking
it up all the way into the highest gear.
They don't see the elderly woman backing
her white Dodge out of her driveway into
a road they no longer control as she shifts
forward, they hit the curb, four kids in a
top down convertible, taking out the shrubbery,
small trees, radio blaring WABC Big Dan Ingram
Rock 77 Top 40 tunes to the telephone pole
that ends it all.
