TEMPLE O F RATS

By Paul L. Glaze

In Ancient India, On A Deserted Hill
Stands A Old Temple That Offers A Chill.
During The Day It Is Inhabited By Bats.
But For Centuries, It Has Been The Home Of Rats.

A Rodents Home For Countless Years.
Villagers Feed Them With Solemn Reveres.
A Spiritual Test Is This Master Plan.
The Rats Have Yet To Bite A Holy Man.

Their Faith Is Tested As Well As Their Heart.
These Rats Will Not Eat And Tear Them Apart.
In This Temple With Rats, They Spend The Night.
Then Depart With Pure Heart In Mornings Light.

To Our Western Mind, This Is Hard To Believe.
This Test Of Faith, We Can Not Conceive.
The Western Answer To The Temple Of Rats.
Would Be To Fill It Full Of Hungry Cats.
