Boulevard
John Hayes
Chocolate ice cream dropped,
hot boulevard consumes the splatter.
boy pleads with timid eyes.
Woman shrieks, “This will learn you,”
cuffs his tear stained face.
“All that money wasted.”
Holds high her cherry cone
tongues running drip.
I offer to replace
dropped chocolate treat.
Woman hollers,
“Hit him, he’s got to learn.”
Amiable, I whack him good.
She extends her dripping cherry
which I lick.
