on the road where the teenagers died

drunk on the end of school
and alcohol

their friends have made all our cars
into prayer wheels
all of us who commute this way
twice a day
into prayer wheels

and
the day
falls
into the night
falls
into the day

and
the dust
and
the cars
and
the crosses by the road

and
names
and
flowers
and
letters
on a telephone pole


love is spray-painted
on the road where the teenagers died

small sacrifices
to the god of advertising
or youth or alcohol or
the god of that telephone pole
with the flowers and the letters
