with my camera
i come to your ceremony
like a new child
your rattles summon
spirit dancers deer people
eyes that see
the running of the Chumash people
before the building
of Bradbury Dam
seven villages spanned
seven and one-half miles
cradled before blue heron
redtailed hawk grebe
golden eagle
whose flight spans overhead
centuries later
reflected in water
like a cloud our pontoon
scans over ghosts of round houses
